Wine & Wellness Wednesday: Sleep Deprivation Is the Pits

Getting a good night’s sleep is one of the most important things we can do for our health.

So why is it so hard to do?

I’ve posted about sleep multiple times over the years, and I was thinking of it again recently when I realized a) I barely blogged in 2025! And b) sleep deprivation over the past few months has really, really messed me up. Weight? Up. Temper? Up. Focus? What’s that? Ability to get anything useful done for more than five or so minutes at a time? <insert hysterical laughter here>

The cause for the sleep deprivation isn’t as important. (Although TBH in my case it’s our dogs…living with senior dogs is ruff. We love them…but it’s been ruff. Yes, I did that spelling on purpose. No, I’m not sorry.) The dealing with it…that’s critical. Also difficult.

Naps. There have been a lot of naps.

Coffee. Lots, and lots, and lots of coffee.

Hugs. So many hugs. (I have the very best hubby!!)

Setting timers, sometimes, to spend only ten minutes on a task means I get something, anything done.

And celebrating as I slowly get the routines back is huge. (Morning meditation, yay! Morning exercise, almost yay!)

Sleep. It’s good for what ails you. How will you get better sleep?

Cheers! Here’s to your health!
